When conducting a professional builders clean there are specific tasks that must be carried out. Upon leaving a building areas are required to be clean, safe and ready for occupants. Today we are going to define a builders clean and provide you with a handy checklist of the necessary jobs to undertake.

What is a builders clean?

Differing immensely from domestic cleaning a builders clean is an intensive process carried out when construction is complete. For maximum results in domestic or commercial buildings it’s important to ensure no trades people are left onsite. This specific clean is a one off service requiring various factors.

Time for a handy checklist!

For the purpose of our blog we are going to bring you a checklist for a single example and today we are choosing a brand new home. Whether single or multiple houses are being cleaned, the process remains the same.

Tidy Entire Space: Before cleaning it’s important to remove any packaging, debris and waste that does not belong in the building.

Doors & Doorways: Focus on discarding any protective covering and labels before getting to work on any leftover paint and construction remnants.

Light Fixtures & Fittings: Required to be dusted, expelled from any splashes and polished if necessary.

Kitchen Area: Clean cabinets inside and out before moving onto top surfaces and appliance exteriors. Finish with any stone surfaces, corners and back splash areas. It’s important to ensure all areas of the kitchen are completely free from construction dust.

Plumbing Fixtures: Remove any paint, filler and grout before cleaning to a shine.

Fireplace & Surround: Focus heavily upon the fireplace in its entirety ensuring its fully wiped clean.

Taps: Bathroom, kitchen and cloakroom taps should be free from any form of debris or splash and nicely polished.

Windows: Including frames and sills on the inside of the house, clean until there’s not a smudge in sight.

Additional Frames: Check the house for additional frames, dado rails and picture rails. Dust and clean accordingly.

Mirrors: Using appropriate solutions it’s important to ensure mirrors contain zero finger marks and smudges.

Walls: Every inch of the walls including corners, hard to reach places, skirting boards, vents and even smoke detectors require cleaning.

Stairs: Dust handrails, spindles and stairs if un carpeted.

Hoover: Every area of the house should be hoovered in order to get rid of all the dust that’s now circulating down over. It’s extremely important to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Mop: This applies to any stone based floors and stairs where necessary. Ensure to dry these spaces also.

Door Handles: Finally, polish those door handles before leaving.
