As the world adjusts to fighting an unseen enemy that can live on more or less everything we touch, we’ve never been more aware of how important cleaning is. While many of us may relegate cleaning to an afterthought that we’ll deal with later, it’s absolutely not the case any longer. Now, cleaning is a major priority – and the COVID-19 pandemic changes how we clean things almost entirely.
Here’s some information on how the latest pandemic will change how we clean massively.
Stores may never be the same again
Many people have now grown used to the one-in, one-out system that many stores are applying. They are also getting used to no longer barging through busy aisles and taking their time when shopping. This could help to change everything about how we shop, but it’ll also change how seriously stores take cleanliness.
Never before have staff been so aware of how germs are spread around their workplace. Expect changes to remain in place with regards to commercial hygiene.
Cleaning may become more professionalised
For years, people and companies have hired cleaners without any real qualification. A desire to get down and dirty in the mire of the mess was all that was needed. Now, though, it’s likely that cleaning will become a certified industry. A certification will potentially be required similarly to those handling food or cutting hair. Like other industries, we can expect to see cleaning become a more professional industry.
Surfaces will never become cleaner
One thing we now know is that COVID-19 loves to live on most surfaces for hours, if not days. That’s why we should expect to see a much greater natural vigilance towards cleaning surfaces and worktops. We’ll become much more comfortable with the idea of scrubbing a surface down thoroughly.
As opposed to the usual smaller cleans, people will likely continue to be stricter when cleaning surfaces.
We’ll even clean ourselves differently
Before COVID-19, most of us would give our hands the most basic of washes. Now, though, it’s likely that we’ll all be so ingrained with the idea of thorough hand washing that it could drastically change how we cope with cleaning. It will make us cleaner people, but it will also make us more thorough and thus more demanding on the cleaning resources available to us today.
Clean, then kill
Many people tend to clean surfaces in their home using a disinfectant and then simply wipe it down. This is not the way to do things, as COVID-19 shows. Instead, the best way to clean surfaces is to go through a thorough process of caring for it. Use soap and water first and then moving on to disinfectant will become the cleaning solution most would have expected.
Everyone should be looking very closely at the concept of cleaning up a property with more thorough measures. The days of ‘just doing enough’ are gone; as COVID-19 has shown, we need to be more vigilant, more thorough, and more thoughtful about how we clean.
Hello Kelly, We are really pleased with the deep clean. School looks so much better. Thanks for all of your help and for organising it so quickly. It was very much appreciated.
